FDAF Board Member Shaquille O’Neal makes NEWS; Showing Support of Gainesville Police by Playing a Basketball Pickup Game with Local Kids.
One of the FDAF’s Board Members – Shaquille O’Neal has recently gone viral on YouTube – January 23, 2016 – recorded by a police car’s dashcam video. Captured on the video tape shows local Officer Bobby White responding to a complaint of kids playing basketball in the street, officer White saw nothing wrong with the children playing basketball, it was clearly an unjustified complaint from a cranky neighbor, Officer White jokingly said he would return the next day with “backup”. Indeed, White returned the next day with “backup”, Isleworth Florida resident, former NBA Basketball sensation and FDAF Board Member Shaquille O’Neal. Community goodwill and the support of the local police department’s pro-active positive interaction with the area’s youth was resounding – as dozens of awestruck residents and police watched the impromptu pickup game. The video has become viral on YouTube with close to 50,000 hits in only a few days. [see video below]. FDAF appreciates the actions and participation in this event by our Board Member and congratulates and supports the efforts of police departments like the Gainsville Police Department.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- The borough's district attorney and the federal DEA's top New York agent have been hailed as "true American heroes" by a national law enforcement association for their work combating narcotics abuse.
At a ceremony in Manhattan Monday night, District Attorney Daniel Donovan and DEA Special Agent in Charge Brian R. Crowell joined two other honorees -- Nassau County Police Chief of Department Steven Skrynecki and Brigadier General Asadullah Babakarkhil, the commander of Afghanistan's Sensitive Investigations Unit -- to receive lifetime achievement awards from the Federal Drug Agents Foundation.
Dennis Schnur, the foundation's chairman, referred to Donovan as a "proactive" anti-drug crusader, both in terms of arresting drug dealers and steering low-level defendants to treatment programs.
Brian Crowell, the Special Agent in Charge of the DEA's New York division, also received a lifetime achievement award at the ceremony, which took place in The Harmonie Club in Manhattan.
"He has a long, long history of success. He has a desire to try to do the right thing in terms of both criminal (investigations) and trying to help people," Schnur said.
Crowell, a 25-year DEA veteran, took the reins of the New York division in 2012. Most recently, he oversaw the DEA's role in a joint NYPD-DEA takedown last month of an alleged oxycodone and gun-dealing ring that operated out of a Great Kills barbershop.
The ceremony took place at The Harmonie Club in Manhattan.
